The Envoy EMU (Energy Monitoring Unit) is an indoor mounted device that accepts data via powerline (ac wiring) from all the inverters in the system (180 max per EMU). It includes a display and an internet interface. The internet connection is through ethernet cable to a router. Data is displayed and saved via Enlighten software through the Enphase website. Enlighten service is sold per inverter for 1 or 5 year period. When the customer has Enlighten service, Enphase provides reimbursement for any energy lost due to warranty covered failure of the AC output.
Transition to THWN-2 wire is usually made in a weather-proof junction box (not included) on the roof and from there is brought to an AC load center in conduit. Each set of inverters (up to the maximum allowed, see above) is then wired into an AC source center through a 15A breaker. A weatherproof 2P, 15A switch could be used on the roof as a disconnect for each string if desired or required.
